About PharmDecoded
I’m not a pharmacist — and that’s actually the point.
I’ve spent 10 years working inside retail pharmacy, in roles most patients never see. Not behind the clinical counter, but on the services and regulatory side: the part of the system that determines how prescriptions get processed, how compliance rules get applied, and why things happen the way they do.
I’ve seen how prescriptions actually get filled. Why your copay changes without warning. Why your pharmacy runs out of a medication for weeks. How the rules behind the counter shape the experience you have as a patient.
Most health content online is written by people who’ve never worked a single shift inside a pharmacy. This site is different.
Here, I translate what happens on the operational and regulatory side of pharmacy into plain language — so you understand the system you’re navigating, not just the medication in your hand.
What you’ll find here.
How prescription pricing, insurance, and PBMs actually work.
Why drug shortages and recalls happen, and what to do about them.
How to navigate refills, transfers, and prior authorizations without the run around
Honest, industry-informed reviews of pharmacy-adjacent tools and services. What you won’t find here
Medical advice. Dosing recommendations. Anything meant to replace a conversation with your doctor or pharmacist.
I’m not a pharmacist and I don’t diagnose, prescribe, or give clinical guidance. What I can do is explain the system with more clarity than most people get at the counter.
A note on sourcing
Content on this site is written from a combination of firsthand industry experience and publicly available sources — including FDA, CMS, MedlinePlus, and other government and research publications. Where a claim comes from a specific source, it’s cited at the bottom of the article.
Nothing here is an accusation against any specific company. Where the site discusses industry practices, it describes documented, publicly reported patterns rather than the conduct of any named business.
